Comparison of AdSense for YouTube payment methods: EFT, wire transfer, SEPA, PayPal Hyperwallet and check

AdSense for YouTube can pay you by bank transfer (EFT), SEPA, wire transfer, PayPal Hyperwallet or check, but you never choose from all five. The methods shown depend on the country in your payment address, and they only appear once your earnings pass the payment method selection threshold. If a method isn't listed on your "Add payment method" page, it isn't available in your country.

Which payment methods are available for YouTube earnings?

MethodWhere it's offeredVerificationArrival after the 21st–26th issue date
EFT (bank transfer)Many countries, e.g. US, Canada, UK, Germany, JapanBank details; some banks get a small test depositUp to 7 business days

Google's country tables show some gaps creators don't expect. In India, for example, EFT isn't offered and payments go by wire. In Canada, Hyperwallet isn't offered. Your own "Add payment method" page is the final word.

How to add a payment method to AdSense for YouTube

  1. Sign in to AdSense for YouTube.
  2. Click Payments, then Payments info.
  3. Click Add payment method.
  4. Enter the details for the method you chose.
  5. Tick Set as primary payment method if this should receive the next payment.
  6. Click Save.

You have to enter your payments profile information (name and address) before methods appear. If you can't see Add payment method, check the Payments page. Your earnings may not have reached the payment method selection threshold yet.

Can I get YouTube AdSense payments through PayPal?

Only through PayPal Hyperwallet, and only in selected countries in the Americas. Google's current tables mark the US as eligible. Rules that catch people out:

  • You must create a new Hyperwallet account during setup. An existing Hyperwallet account can't be reused.
  • Save your Payee ID when it's shown. You need it to activate the account.
  • Activate the account from the email Hyperwallet sends. Until you do, payments can't land. If the email doesn't arrive, check spam and request it again from Hyperwallet.
  • AdSense and AdSense for YouTube need separate Hyperwallet accounts, although both can use the same email address.
  • Add a transfer method inside Hyperwallet (usually your bank) to cash out. Hyperwallet holds the money until you do.

Failed withdrawals from Hyperwallet itself go to Hyperwallet support. Problems adding Hyperwallet in AdSense go to YouTube or AdSense support.

Wire transfer vs bank transfer: which should you choose?

EFT is usually faster and cheaper when it's offered. Wire is the fallback in countries without EFT, and it avoids the test-deposit step. If your bank does ask for test-deposit verification, see our AdSense test deposit guide.

FAQ

What is the best payment method for AdSense for YouTube?

Where it's offered, EFT (bank transfer) is usually the best default: it's the fastest at up to 7 business days and typically avoids incoming-wire fees. Choose wire when EFT isn't available, and Hyperwallet if you're in an eligible country and want the money in PayPal first.

Can I be paid in my local currency?

Payment currency is tied to your payments profile and method, and bank transfers are typically made in your local currency. If your bank receives a foreign-currency wire, it may convert it at its own rate, so ask your bank how it handles incoming conversions.

Does the payment method change how much I earn?

No. Your earnings and the threshold are the same whichever method you use. The method only affects how long the money takes to arrive, what your bank charges to receive it, and whether a test deposit is needed first.

When does the payment method matter for getting paid?

Your method must be in place, and set as primary, by the 20th of the month. Changes made after the 20th apply from the following month's payment. Payments are issued between the 21st and 26th, and the method then sets how long the money takes to arrive. The full calendar and the payout threshold are explained in our YouTube AdSense payment schedule guide.

A missing payment method is also one of the six payment hold types. If the Payments page shows an alert, work through AdSense for YouTube payment on hold. For how payment methods fit with verification, tax and account health, see our complete AdSense for YouTube guide.

Availability by country changes over time. Check your own "Add payment method" page before relying on a method listed here.
