Snapchat Streak Restore lets you bring back a Streak that recently ended. Every Snapchatter gets one free restore, Snapchat+ subscribers get one more free each month, and after that each restore is a paid in-app purchase at a price that varies by country. Act fast: only recently expired Streaks can be restored.
How to restore a Snapchat Streak
- Open the Chat screen.
- Find the friend or group whose Streak ended.
- Tap the Restore button next to that Chat.
- Follow the steps in the app. If you have a free restore, it's used first. Otherwise you'll see the price before you pay.
Several Streaks ended at once? A Restore All option may appear so you can restore them together. Snapchat says this is currently on iOS only.
How much does it cost to restore a Snapchat Streak?
| Who you are | Free restores | After that |
|---|---|---|
| Every Snapchatter | 1 free Streak Restore | Paid in-app purchase |
| Snapchat+ subscriber | 1 free restore every month, on top of the above | Paid in-app purchase for extra restores that month |
| Price | n/a | Set per country. The price shown on your device is what you pay. |
Snapchat+ details that catch people out:
- The free monthly restore resets on the day of the month your subscription started, not the 1st.
- Unused free restores don't roll over to the next month.
Snapchat doesn't publish one global price, so the Restore screen in your app is the only reliable price. See our Snapchat Plus guide to decide whether the monthly free restore is worth subscribing for.
Why is there no Restore button?
Snapchat says that if you don't see a Restore button, that Streak can't be restored, usually because it ended too long ago.
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Restore button showing | Tap it straight away. The window is limited. |
| No Restore button | The Streak is too old to restore in the app |
| Tapped Restore but it failed | Use Snapchat's Streak restore request form (in Snapchat Support's "I lost my Streak" article) |
| A group Streak ended | Look for Restore on the group Chat. Snap said in September 2025 that a group Streak can be restored within a week of ending. |
How do Snapchat Streaks work?
- A Streak builds when you and a friend send each other photo or video Snaps every day. Once it starts, a 🔥 fire emoji and a number (days) appear next to the Chat.
- A Streak ends when more than a day passes without a new Snap from everyone in the Chat.
- An ⌛ hourglass next to the Chat means the Streak is about to expire. Snap each other right away.
- Group Streaks: most members must send a photo or video Snap (not a Chat) in the group every day.
What doesn't keep a Streak alive?
Typed Chat messages don't count in group Streaks, and Snapchat's Streak rules are written around photo and video Snaps. When in doubt, send a real Snap rather than a text.
How to stop losing Snapchat Streaks
- Watch for the hourglass. It's your last warning before a Streak ends.
- Snap, don't just Chat. Photo or video Snaps are what keep Streaks going.
- In groups, it takes most members, so remind the quiet ones.
- Save your free restore for the Streak you care about most. Each account only gets one.
