Snapchat Recap 2026: When It Comes Out and How to See Your Snapchat Wrapped
Snapchat's year-end Recap, often called Snapchat Wrapped, lands in Memories in mid-December. When to expect it, how to see it, and why some people never get one.

Snapchat Recap, the year-end video many people call Snapchat Wrapped, is a short Story built from the Snaps you saved to Memories over the past year. It appears in your Memories, and in recent years it has arrived in mid-December. Not everyone gets one, and if you dismiss it, it's gone for good.
Before your Recap arrives: don't move your favourite Snaps into My Eyes Only. Recaps leave those out.
When does Snapchat Recap 2026 come out?
Snapchat hasn't announced a date for the 2026 Recap yet. Every recent Recap has rolled out in the middle of December:
| Year | Rollout | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | The week after December 13 (Year End Stories) | Snap Newsroom, Dec 13, 2022 |
| 2023 | From December 13 | TechCrunch, Dec 12, 2023 |
| 2024 | December 17 | Snap Newsroom, Dec 9, 2024 |
| 2025 | From December 15 | Snap Newsroom, Dec 15, 2025 |
Based on that pattern, expect the 2026 Recap around mid-December 2026. Rollouts are gradual, so friends may get theirs a day or two before you. We'll update this page when Snap announces the date.
How to see your Snapchat Recap
- Update Snapchat to the latest version.
- Open the app. On the Camera screen, swipe up to open Memories.
- Look for your Recap card at the top of Memories. In 2025 it was labelled "Your 2025 Snap Recap".
- Tap it to play your Recap as a Story.
To remove a Snap you don't want in it, tap the three dots in the top corner while it's showing, then tap Remove Snap.
What's in a Snapchat Recap?
Snapchat describes the Recap as a Story made from Snaps you saved to Memories over the past year, highlighting places you visited, things you did and friends you saw. Recent versions added more:
- 2024: the first Recap with a round-up of your activity, such as Chats and Snaps sent, Stories posted, Memories saved and calls made.
- 2025: a short personalised video drawing on your Snaps, Stories and Chats.
What's left out: anything saved to My Eyes Only.
Why don't I have a Snapchat Recap?
Snapchat says not every Snapchatter gets a Recap, and they aren't available on request. Check these:
| Reason | What it means | Can you fix it this year? |
|---|---|---|
| Too few saved Memories | Eligibility depends on factors like how many Memories you saved | Not this year. Save more Snaps for next year. |
| Your best Snaps are in My Eyes Only | Recaps never include My Eyes Only | Only by moving Snaps out before the Recap is made |
| It hasn't reached you yet | Rollouts are gradual | Wait a few days and keep the app updated |
| You dismissed or hid it | Dismissing removes it permanently | No |
| The Recap period ended | Recaps are available for a limited time only | No |
Snapchat Recap not loading?
Snapchat Support suggests:
- Keep Snapchat open on the Memories screen while connected to Wi-Fi.
- Quit the app completely and reopen it.
- Update Snapchat to the latest version.
If your Memories themselves look empty, check that Memories backup is working. A Recap can only use Snaps that reached your saved Memories.
Can I get my Snapchat Recap back after dismissing it?
No. Snapchat says that if you dismiss or hide your Recap, it's removed permanently, and Recaps can't be requested. Snapchat Support doesn't describe how to save a Recap, so if you like yours, check the options inside the Recap as soon as you open it, before it expires or gets dismissed by accident.
How to get a better Snapchat Recap next year
- Save the Snaps you care about to Memories as you go. The Recap is built from them.
- Keep favourites out of My Eyes Only if you want them in your Recap.
- Save a mix: places, activities and friends are what Recaps highlight.
- Make sure Memories backup works, so saved Snaps actually reach your account.
Snapchat Recap and the 2027 Memories storage change
Recaps are built from Memories, so Snapchat's Memories storage rules matter here. Free storage is 5GB, and from January 2027 some older Memories on accounts above 5GB are archived (not deleted). The Recap draws on the past year of saved Snaps, which Snapchat keeps fully available, so your Recap shouldn't be affected. If you have years of Memories, though, now is a good time to download them. FAQ
Is Snapchat Wrapped the same as Snapchat Recap?
Yes. Snapchat calls it Snapchat Recap, and earlier versions were called Year End Stories. "Snapchat Wrapped" is the nickname people use, after Spotify Wrapped.
Where is my Snapchat Recap?
In Memories: swipe up from the Camera screen. If it isn't there, you may not be eligible this year, or it hasn't rolled out to you yet.
How long is Snapchat Recap available?
Snapchat says Recaps are available for a limited time only and doesn't publish an end date, so watch it soon after it appears.
Can I make my own Snapchat Recap?
Not an official one. Snapchat creates Recaps and doesn't take requests. You can still make your own Story from Memories at any time.
